Gold strikes new high

Gold prices on Friday hit another high of Rs 42,500 per tola up from Rs 42,400 on the local market, trader said. Price of gold per 10 grams also soared to new peak of Rs 36,428 up from Rs 36,342, traders said, adding that the price of yellow metal on the global market was quoted at $1,315 an ounce.
Silver stayed firm at historic high of Rs 635 per tola and Rs 528.28 per 10 gram, traders said. Gold rates are given to media quoting the Lahore bullion market prices, as Karachi bullion market remained shut in protest against rising cases of extortion's, they said. "Karachi traders did not open gold rates on Friday on account of a strike against the extortionists," they said.
