LCCA hails new TDAP chief

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has congratulated the newly appointed Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Tariq Iqbal Puri, and expressed optimism that the TDAP new Chief Executive would evolve a comprehensive strategy with consultation of business community to increase the country's exports.
The LCCI President Shahzad Ali said that Tariq Iqbal has vast experience that definitely would go a long way in bringing the much-needed economic turnaround and also had rendered marvellous services for trade and industry during his tenures as Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (now TDAP), and Economic Minister in Brussels. He said that Iqbal had been instrumental in promoting exports through doable work methodologies and practical decisions. He said that the newly appointed TDAP chief was also one of the founding fathers of the Lahore Expo Centre and Lahore Fashion School. The business community greatly appreciates the decision of the Prime Minister to depute such an experienced person on this most important task to promote exports and earn the much-needed foreign exchange, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Tariq Iqbal has to his credit the distinction of serving the federal government for the last 37 years with versatility of experience both in the Government and with Corporate Sector. He acquired extensive hands-on experience of multilateral and bilateral trade and investment negotiations and remained proactively engaged with foreign investors in attracting investments into Pakistan. Tariq has a track record of great services to the economic sector of Pakistan being Vice Chairman of TDAP, Consul General at Istanbul, Hong Kong and Toronto.
