Two of the fittest players of Pakistan, Fawad Alam and Shan Masood, were once again neglected by Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the drafts held at Lahore on Sunday.
It looks like the PSL, which was started with the aim to promote talent, has become questionable for many fans after the coach of Quetta Gladiators Moin Khan selected his son Azam Khan over much deserving players.
Many questioned why players such as Fawad Alam, Awais Zia weren’t picked by any franchise. Even, Imam ul Haq, who is having a good run in the ongoing national T20 Cup, was neglected by all the franchises.
Fawad Alam, who is waiting for his comeback in the side for a long time, has scored over 10,000 runs in the domestic cricket but yet was not found eligible by any franchise.
After the retirement of Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan from Test cricket, the left-hander was clearly the first choice to fill the gap. However, the selectors once again left him when team went to UAE for two-match series against Sri Lanka.
Neglecting the players like Fawad, Imam, Owais Zia, Shan and others over out of shape players like Azam is a tough call. Now or later the Gladiators will have to justify the selection.
