Three Gunmen on Tuesday stormed a mosque in a village (65/15-L) Mian Chunnu and fired at worshippers, killing one and injuring two others, police said. The ambush took place in the village mosque, some 80 kilometres (50 miles) east of Multan. "Three men armed with pistols entered mosque and fired at worshippers and as a result of firing a man died while two others were wounded," Khanewal district police chief Waqar Abbasi said.
"Two wounded were in critical condition," he said, adding that the motive behind the attack was not immediately clear, nor anyone had claimed responsibility. Doctor Khalid Pervez of Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital Mian Chunnu confirmed that a worshipper identified as Waryam Bhara son of Khuda Bakhsh with bullet wounds had died and that the two seriously wounded men were undergoing surgery. They are identified as Allah Yar and Abdul Razzaq. Eye witnesses said that the attackers were on an unnumbered motorcycle. It may be recalled that three gunmen attacked a mosque Al-Qamar on September 25 in Bahawalpur.
