In view of ongoing economic situation in the country, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is preparing sector-specific proposals, which would be forwarded to the concerned government departments very soon. The LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik revealed this while talking to a group of office bearers of the city markets' associations including Sheikh Mohammad Wajid of Shah Alam Market and Mian Muhammad Ashfaq and Aamer Khan of Hall Road who met him here on Tuesday.
The delegation sought help regarding the Customs-related issues on which the LCCI President promised to take up their issues with the concerned government authorities. The delegation members were of the view that the government, in consultation with the Chambers of Commerce and other trade bodies, should evolve new policies aimed at revival of economic activities in the country that have gone slow because of multiple challenges being faced by the country.
Shahzad Ali Malik said that safeguarding the interests of the business community was one of the prime tasks of the Lahore Chamber and it would continue to play its role. He also said the LCCI is planning to convene a meeting of all the trade bodies in coming months and the sole objective of the meeting was to have their suggestions for putting the economy back on rails. The LCCI Senior Vice President Shiekh Mohammad Arshad who was also present on the occasion said the government would have to take the stakeholders onboard for implementation of its policies in letter and spirit.
