Haroon Khan, younger brother of Britain's WBA light welterweight champion Amir, reached the Commonwealth Games flyweight last eight when he beat Gilbert Bactora of Mauritius on Thursday. The 19-year-old British-born fighter, who chose to represent Pakistan after claiming he had been snubbed by the English boxing authorities, will now clash with Andrew Selby of Wales.
"He was a bit awkward," said the teenager, listed as Haroon Iqbal rather than Khan after his points win. "He was stronger. As soon as the bell rang, I knew there would be a tough fight. It is getting harder the closer I get to a medal, which is what I want."
