Two Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli troops early on Friday during an operation in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, an AFP correspondent and medical sources said. The two men, whose identities were not immediately clear, were shot dead during an army operation in the south-eastern part of the city, known as H2, which is under Israeli military control.
An AFP correspondent at the scene of the shooting had earlier seen soldiers covering one of the bodies with plastic sheets. The army had no immediate comment on the incident, saying only that an operation was under way in the area. Witnesses said troops had surrounded the house before dawn and opened fire towards it.
