PML-N rejects new NAB chief's appointment

09 Oct, 2010

PML-N has rejected the appointment of former Justice Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB). PML-N spokesman Ahsan Iqbal said in a statement here on Friday by appointing its own hand picked Chairman NAB and ignoring reservations of the opposition, Zardari regime has clearly shown its unwillingness to bring transparency and trust in the accountability process.
He said the spirit of Charter of Democracy clearly demands that a consensus appointment should be made to head the accountability process. Instead the government chose to appoint a person who had in the past remained a PPP activist. Similarly, for the past two years, the government is obstructing law for establishment of an independent accountability body in the country, which clearly shows that the present regime wants to obstruct a fair accountability process in the country.
