Ogra raises wellhead prices of about 21 gas producing fields

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has raised the wellhead prices of around 21 gas producing fields due to variation in exchange rate and global oil prices effective from July-December 2010. Ogra official said that impact of increase in recent well head gas prices will also be reflected in consumer prices effective from January 1, 2011.
Ogra has revised wellhead gas prices of 32 gas fields and there has been made no change in prices of some gas fields. The government sets, through Ogra, the wellhead price and then gas is provided to the gas distribution companies, like Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) for sales to industrial, commercial and domestic consumers.
According to revised wellhead rates, prices of two gas fields-Sui and Kandhkot have been increased to Rs 152.2 per mmbtu against earlier price of Rs 143.87 per mmbtu. Provisional wellhead price for Qadirpur has been raised to Rs 230.76 per mmbtu against Rs 227.68 earlier effective from July 1, 2010. The authority has also set the wellhead price for Manzalai, Hala, Haseeb, Mela, Nashpa, Chachar fields at $2.83 per mmbtu, $2.58 per mmbtu,$2.19 per mmbtu, $2.6 per mmbtu,$2.6 per mmbtu and $2.4 per mmbtu respectively.
