NRO verdict implementation case: government seeks more time to replace counsel

10 Oct, 2010

The government has filed a petition with the Registrar of Supreme Court, seeking more time to replace federation's counsel Barrister Kamal Azfar, who has been made advisor to Prime Minister, as the NRO implementation case is all set for hearing on October 13 by a 17-member large bench of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court will examine the government's fresh plea on October 11. The Supreme Court on Saturday sought the production of notification of Kamal Azfar's appointment as advisor to the prime minister. Advocate on record Raja Abdul Ghafoor submitted a petition in the Registrar's office, seeking more time in the NRO review case. The petition has argued that since Kamal Azfar has been made as advisor to prime minister, the government requires more time. The hearing was previously adjourned till October 13 after the attorney general of Pakistan submitted an application, on government directive, to adjourn hearing of NRO verdict implementation case.
