Premier Football League: Afghan Club, KRL, Navy, PEL emerge victorious

11 Oct, 2010

Afghan Football Club, KRL, Pakistan Navy and PEL earned victories in tight matches of Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) 2010, played on different centres on Sunday.
Faisalabad's PMC Athletico Club suffered 0-1 defeat at the hands of Afghan Football Club. The only goal of the match was scored by striker Najib Khan in the 82nd minute.
In another match, Saad Ullah emerged from the field as hero as PEL managed 2-1 win over ten-men HBL at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore.
The match saw a twist when Kharan-born referee Sattar Badini, declared best referee of previous edition of the league, showed red card to HBL midfielder Abid Hussain for a reckless 49th minute move on PEL stopper Asif Javed just outside the area. The match was sweetly balanced 1-1 at interval.
As the game resumed, fast-moving Chaman-born striker Saad Ullah gave PEL lead in the 18th minute when he side stepped host of defenders before tapping the ball into the left corner of the goal, dodging keeper Syed Dilawar Hussain.
Six minutes later, HBL midfielder Abdullah fumbled a chance to goal, even though keeper Saqib Hanif was at his mercy. However, he made amends for his mistake to make it 1-1 in the 29th minute when referee penalised Asif Javed for hand-ball foul following Abid's corner. Abdullah, in full frenzy, gave no chance to Hanif this time.
In another match, KRL recorded their third win in eight matches when they overwhelmed KPT 1-0. Faisalabad-born Muhammad Shahid, playing as wing full back, was instrumental in giving three full points to KRL with 70th minute goal.
Navy slammed closing minute clincher to beat NBP 2-1. It was Navy's second win in the competition with Rizwan scoring twice in the sixth and 87th minute. NBP's only scorer was Adil Ahmed in the 21st minute, as half time score became 1-1.
