Government departments: ban on recruitment challenged in LHC

Lahore High Court on Monday issued notice to Punjab government in a petition challenging ban on appointments in grades five to 16 in the provincial departments. The petitioner's advocate Alamgir Khan stated that government has put a ban on recruitment, which is causing massive increase in unemployment.
He contended that the government, constitutionally bound to provide jobs to citizens, has illegally and unconstitutionally imposed the ban. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the government to lift the impugned ban immediately and appoint eligible citizens in the provincial departments.
