PFMA calls for preservation of wheat stock

Chairman, Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan has said due to lack of proper arrangements wheat worth millions of rupees is rotting under the open sky. The chairman PFMA further said that in the upcoming season, production of another bumper crop is expected in the country and called for making arrangements of godowns for their preservation to prevent huge loss to the national exchequer.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the executive committee held under his chairmanship. Beside, former chairman, Mohammad Naeem Butt, and vice chairman, Haji Mussarat Shah, executive members, Haji Merajuddin, Haji Yusuf Afridi, Mohammad Asif Sehti, Gul Zarin Khan and Mohammad Tariq also attended the meeting.
The chairman PFMA said that according to an estimate the government would have a stock of 5 million tonnes of wheat till the arrival of the upcoming crop, whose preservation is must saying that failure in making proper arrangements would inflict millions of rupees loss to the government. He said that according to the prevailing situation rice and cotton cultivated areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh have been washed away in floods and now the cultivation of only wheat is possible. Therefore, the production of bumper wheat crop is expected in the country.
