Alberto Rodriguez is the new US embassy Press Attaché and Country Information Officer in Islamabad, the US embassy announced on Tuesday. Rodriguez has replaced Richard Snelsire who will be returning to Washington after completing his tenure here. His responsibilities include acting as the Embassy's spokesman as well as facilitating media interviews, press briefings and other activities with the ambassador and other embassy officials.
Rodriguez has come to embassy in Islamabad following postings as Press Attaché at the US Embassy in San Salvador (2007- 2010), a member of the Maysan Provincial Reconstruction Team in Iraq (2007), Program Officer in the Narcotic Affairs Section in Colombia (2003-2006), Political-Military and Human Rights officer in Mexico (2001-2003), and Consular Officer in Barbados (1999-2001.)
Rodriguez began his State Department career as a Communications Officer with tours of duty in Madrid (1995-1998), Central African Republic (1989-1991) and Mauritania (1987-1989). He speaks Spanish and French and is married and has three children.
