Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is confronting challenges of terrorism, unemployment, poverty and flooding.
Addressing a function held in connections with the Waseela-e-Rozgar Scheme and distribution of Watan Cards amongst flood affectees and commencement of poverty census in Charsada, the chief minister said that the leaders and workers of Pakistan People Party (PPP), and Awami National Party (ANP) as well as people of the province had paid heavy price in the war for survival of the country and is committed for higher price for elimination of this menace.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was chief guest on the occasion. Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Farzana Raja, Federal Interior Minister Rahman Malik, Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Owais Ahmad Ghani, senior provincial ministers Rahim dad Khan and Bashir Ahmad Bilour, provincial ministers, MPAs, provincial and district authorities and local notables and large number of deserving people were present.
The provincial government, he said has freeze annual developmental schemes. No discrimination and injustice would be possible with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in presence of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. He said that the introduction of Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar Scheme for elimination of poverty and unemployment is a great achievement.
Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti thanked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Farzana Raja for commencing Waseela Haq and Waseela Rozgar programme, poverty census and distribution of Watan Cards from district Charsadda. He said resource base of provinces has increased due to NFC and the credit of remarkable provincial autonomy goes to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He said the provincial government is working on comprehensive programme for eradication of poverty and unemployment from the province in which Bacha Khan Rozgar scheme is worth mentioning adding the government is also working on programmes like Benazir Shaheed Children Hospital in Peshawar, Benazir Shaheed Children Hospital in Mardan and programme for elimination of hepatitis under the same nomenclature initiated with support of federal government.
He said sacrifices of political leaders, workers of ANP and PPPP including Benazir Shaheed are commendable. Heavy price has been paid in the struggle against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and any sort of sacrifice would be rendered for rooting this menace in future as well. He commented. The chief minister said flooding has been trounced with collective efforts and phases of rescue, food package and early recovery have been completed.
He said phase of compensation for flood victims and injured has bee completed on Eid, while phase of provision of 20,000 cash under Watan Cards to flood affectees who had lost their homes, has been commenced, which will be completed in two months. He said 26,000 homes are affected in Charsadda adding billion rupees will be distributed in collaboration of federal and provincial governments in all phases of compensation. He expressed the hope that no injustice would be made with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in federal government's fund for confronting challenges of flooding and terrorism. He said federal government has been requested for assistance after directing provincial resources for rehabilitation of flood affectees. He stressed people representatives for ensuring respectable assistance of flood affectees.
