Iran links Zero Point opening with local Transit Gate

18 Oct, 2010

Iranian authorities have linked opening of 'Zero Point' with opening of 'Local Transit Gate' along Pak-Iran border. Sources said that the Iranian authorities had closed Zero Point along Pak-Iran border some three months in response to closure of Commercial Gate Zero Point.
They were of the stand that unless local transit gate is opened Zero Point would not be opened. From local transit gate, almonds, pistachio, other dry fruits, and goods are brought to Pakistan.
Sources said that several meetings were held with Iranian authorities about border affairs. At these meetings Iranian authorities demanded opening of local transit gate prior to opening of Zero Point. It should be known who and why local transit gate had been closed by Pakistan.
Due to closure of Zero Point and local transit gate along Pak-Iran border thousands of Pakistani labourers have been rendered jobless.
