20 Oct, 2010

The Regional Chairman of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Muhammad Adress said the large scale industry is considered, as backbone for country's economy, which not only produces raw materials to other industries but also generates employment.
While talking on current economic scenario, he said the large-scale industry not only boosts the country's exports but also fetches 63 percent revenue to the national exchequer. Discontinuation of gas supply is the major threat to this industry that can stop the production process and massive decrease in exports, he said and added that unemployment, crime and inflation rates are also on the rising trend.
He demanded of the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to the large-scale industry on equity basis immediately. This sector should be saved from the discontinuation of gas supply so that country's economy may be boosted up by the basic role of this industry, he added.
