Flood position: revenue officers told to establish close coordination

The Chairman District Relief Committee Hyderabad MNA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote has directed the Revenue officers to establish close coordination to their officers posted at flood-hit areas to ascertain flood position and in case flood water is receded, the affected camped at Hyderabad should be sent back on two days notice.
This, he directed while presiding over a meeting of District Relief Committee at DCO main office Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad Monday night. The meeting which was attended by Sindh Minister Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgri, Sindh Minister for Special Education Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi, DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri, EDO Revenue Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi and concerned officers made threadbare discussion for brining the situation in normal in Hyderabad district, to make transport arrangements for departing IDPs and to look after those IDPs whose native places were still under flood water. The meeting took some decisions in this regard.
Addressing the meeting the Chairman District Relief Committee Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote said that since the IDPs have started return back to their native places from October 15, 2010 the considerable space at main Sabzi Mandi Relief Camp has been evacuated. He said that in order to get the school buildings evacuated from the relief camps to get the academic session start, the affected people who have been camped at school buildings should be shifted to the Sabzi Mandi Relief Camp without any delay.
He said that the students of school buildings under the usage of relief camps has suffered their academic loss and now government has decided not only to restart the academic session, but to take some other steps to compensate losses of the students.
The Chairman District Relief Committee also directed the Revenue officers to conduct the survey of the government buildings under the use of relief camps and shift the affected victims at the other alternative buildings in case the evacuation of such government buildings is so essential. The meeting unanimously recommended to the Federal Minister for Water & Power Raja Perwaiz Ashraf for exempting the relief camps in government buildings from the recovery of electric charges.
