The Department of Fine Arts, Printmaking studio, at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture hosted a Box-Print Portfolio, a Fund Raising Project from April 8-15, 2010, which will conclude in a Printmaking Exhibition at the IVS Gallery, Karachi on Wednesday.
Michael Kempson, one of the leading printmakers of Australia, visited Pakistan for his survey exhibition, curated by Roohi Ahmed and Abdullah M.l. Syed, at the V.M. Art Gallery. The Box-Print Portfolio workshop was conducted during his stay here, in which he actively participated and shared with 12 Pakistani artists who were all part of the workshop.
The project was designed to provide a platform for professional interaction between artists, faculty members and students from IVS and other educational institutions of Karachi. It is a fundraiser for the Fine Art Department to buy a large-scale intaglio press for the development of the printmaking facilities at IVS, which are generously shared with other art institutions.
We also hope to establish an ongoing international exchange programme, strengthen bonds and working relationship with other national and international art institutions and artists. Nafisa Rizvi and Naiza H. Khan generously wrote articles for the project's catalogue, which will be published in IVS publications.-PR
