Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Wednesday said the coalition partners are deceiving the nation with mock political confrontation on one hand while they are secretly in synch on further increase in power, water and gas tariffs on the other hand.
While addressing his party ticket holders and office-bearers hailing from Gujranwala at Muslim League House, Lahore on Wednesday, Elahi said the people were not interested in political jugglery rather they want eradication of rising inflation, unemployment and crimes.
He alleged that the Punjab Chief Minister while keeping 14 cabinet portfolios under his belt has destroyed the provincial economy with his ill conceived and useless schemes. Criticising the performance of the incumbent Punjab government, Elahi said that in the last two and a half years the main focus of the Punjab government had been on furthering vindictive politics and breaking up our party but by the Grace of Allah despite their planning and efforts we are still intact.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League was present in all provinces of the country including Gilgit-Baltistan and was serving the people with full zeal and commitment. Elahi accused the incumbent Punjab Government of destroying the provincial economy. He said that in 2007 at the end of his government in Punjab there were 76 billion rupees in surplus present in the treasury but today due to sheer incompetence of the present rulers Punjab was under a debt of over Rs 186 billion. He said that billions of rupees belonging to the government were squandered on ill conceived and useless schemes in Punjab with no improvement in sight.
He said that inflation, unemployment and crimes had paralysed the provincial economy and the people of the province were feeling highly insecure and unsafe under the present rulers. Special prayer was offered for national solidarity and integrity. Fateha was also offered for the late President of Pakistan Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari. Those present in the meeting included Senator Anwar Bhinder, Chaudhry Zafar Ullah Cheema, Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal, Eng. Ashraf Butt, Shehzad Butt, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Arshad Khan Lodhi and Shahana Farooqi.
