Gang involved in illegal transplantation of kidneys unearthed

A team of health department accompanied by police unearthed a gang involved in illegal transplantation of kidneys in Lahore. According to details, an agent Rehmat Ali got shifted a lady Salmi Sulaman Shambha hailing from Oman, to a house in Valentia Town for transplantation of kidney against Rs 2.5 million where Dr Waseem and Dr Aftab of Mayo Hospital allegedly operated upon the Omani lady.
However, she died during the transplantation of kidney. Surgeon Dr Fawad Chidhar of Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital is also involved in this activity. On the complaint of heirs of the lady, Secretary Health directed EDO Health Fayyaz Ranjha to immediately unearth this gang upon which Dr Fayyaz Ranjha along with Shoukat Wahab Drug Inspector and SHO Police station Gowalmandi conducted a raid and arrested the agent of said gang Rehmat Ali.
The accused Rehmat Ali disclosed that Professor Dr Saleem Akhtar, Head of Urology Department, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Dr Manzoor Malik of Mayo Hospital, Technician Zia of Umer Hospital and Technician Younis of Khair-un-Nisa Hospital, Faisal Town are allegedly involved in this illegal business.
Rehmat Ali further disclosed that the group of these doctors has already earned millions of rupees by transplanting kidneys of the patients in Saudi Arabia and other foreign countries. A case has been registered against the accused and important disclosures are expected during investigation. Police is conducting raids for the arrest of the accused. Secretary Health Fawad Hassan Fawad has directed for immediate suspension of doctors of government hospitals involved in illegal transplantation of kidneys in Lahore and has also ordered action against them.
