JAC stages demonstration

Joint Action Committee organised a protest rally on Mall Road against the establishment of Board Of Governors in 26 government colleges of Punjab. Protestors blocked the Mall Road for more than five hours. The rally was addressed by the leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party, PML (Q), members of the civil society and representatives of trader organisations.
Speaking on the occasion PPP MPA Tanveer-ul-Islam Rana, PPP MPA Syed Hassan Murtaza said that they are with the students and teachers and announced that if the demands of students and teachers were not accepted PPP will join hands with agitatingstudents-teachers protest. PML Q MPA Amna Ulfat while criticising the Punjab government said that government of Punjab was working on anti-education policies. Chairman Joint Action Committee Dr Zahid Ahmed Sheikh announced their next plan of action in which he threatened the boycott of classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and a Road Caravan. He appreciated the appointment of senior bureaucrat Hasseb Athar as Secretary Higher Education.
