Pakistan important economic partner: Swiss envoy

Switzerland and Pakistan enjoy very cordial relations that go back more than 60 years. Pakistan is an important economic partner for Switzerland in Asia. These views were expressed by the new Consul General of Switzerland in Karachi Didier Boschung at a reception hosted at his residence for the media.
The Consul General said that Switzerland in the last several years has usually been among the top five nations in terms of foreign direct investments in Pakistan. He said a number of bilateral economic agreements facilitate business activities between the two countries, and many leading Swiss multinational companies are operating in Pakistan. He pointed out that trade between Pakistan and Switzerland had increased during the past few years. In view of the existing market potential, trade and investment performance could be further improved.
The new Consul General, Didier Boschung arrived in Karachi on September 30th 2010 and assumed his duties as Consul General of Switzerland in Karachi replacing Martin Bienz. Boschung was born in Fribourg, Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. After completing his studies and professional activities in the private sector, he joined the Foreign Service at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1984 and was initially posted in Bern.
His overseas assignments at the diplomatic missions of Switzerland include Munich, Tripoli, San Francisco, Tehran, Sydney and New Delhi, where he held different positions. Before coming to Karachi, he was the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Switzerland in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for four-and-a-half years.-PR
