62 new dengue fever cases reported in 24 hours

Health Depart-ment Punjab has reported 62 new cases of dengue fever in Lahore and one in Okara during the last 24 hours. A spokesman of health department said 15 suspected patient have been admitted in Sir Ganga Ram hospital, three in Lahore General Hospital, three in Government Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate, four in Institute of Public Health, one in Post Graduate Medical Institute, 18 in City District Government dispensary, and 18 in private hospitals and clinics.
The total number of dengue patients has reached 807 in Punjab and 689 in Lahore. The spokesman said on the orders of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif health department is carrying fumigation drive for controlling dengue virus. 27 teams conducted spray in the city on Sunday in which more than 200 officials took part.
Narrating the details, EDO Health Dr Umer Farooq Baloch said that 21 small and big foggers and 184 hand pumps would carry out the spray in the morning and evening times.
Dr Baloch asked the administrations of all hospitals of district Lahore to pay special attention towards the treatment and diagnosis of patients suffering from dengue fever. He said the MS of the concerned hospital would be responsible for not providing free treatment facilities to the dengue patients whereas the focal person will be responsible to provide information in writing to Health Department up to 4 pm about such patients on daily basis.
EDO Health has appointed Dr Zia-ud-Din as focal person who will collect data of patients suffering from dengue virus from private hospitals on daily basis.
