Health officers exhorted to take measures for controlling dengue fever

In order to control and eradicate dengue virus from district Hyderabad, MNA Syed Tayab Hussain presided over a meeting of health officers, taluka administrators and district administration at Circuit House Hyderabad on Tuesday. MNA Syed Tayab Hussain said that it is prime duty of district health department and taluka administrations to make foolproof arrangements for eradicating contagious diseases from their areas and provide healthy atmosphere to the inhabitants.
He said that nowadays dengue fever has griped many parts of the country and this situation is alarming. He directed all concerned departments to prepare plan and adopt all preventive measures with the participation of all stakeholders upto UC level in such a way so that this fatal disease could be eradicated from the district.
He said that this campaign should be launched both care & cure fronts and it must be implemented with creating awareness among the masses. He said that media could play vital role in creating awareness and adopting precautionary measures as such the health management must get such help from media managers.
On this occasion focal person of the campaign against dengue virus, Dr Nadeem Shah informed the meeting that dengue virus has been reported positive in 16 districts of Sindh infecting 1709 and resulting death of 16 patients as yet. He informed that majority of affected patients were reported in Karachi where 1,637 patients were confirmed with the disease, whereas Hyderabad remained at second number with 49 patients, Mirpurkhas 2, Badin 4, Sanghar 4, Shaheed Benazirabad 2, Larkana 2, while one patient has been confirmed each at districts Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Nausheroferoz and Dadu. He advised that affected people should contact registered medical practitioners immediately and adopt all preventive measures.
