The check points set up by Islamabad Police to foil untoward incidents in the capital borne fruits, as these not only proved effective in keeping the terrorists away, but also helped in recovering 109 stolen cars and huge cache of narcotics along with illegal weapons in the last one year, said Tahir Alam Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad here on Wednesday.
The COPS manning these pickets are making every possible effort to ensure protection of citizens by risking their own lives, SSP Islamabad said during a review meeting of the performance of police pickets established at various points in the city.
SSP ordered the management to depute vigilant and efficient policemen at the check points and to adopt polite attitude to avoid any kind of highhandedness with citizens.
He said the pickets have been erected for the safety of the citizens to keep a vigilant eye on the anti-social elements. He said efforts are afoot to make the security arrangement more effective.
"Police have been facing severe challenges at present and policemen are at the terrorists gunpoint," Khan said, adding that the morale of cops is high and those deputed at the pickets woe to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens by putting their lives at risk.
The SSP Islamabad ordered all Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers to brief officers and jawans deputed at the pickets for adopting polite attitude and not to tease any citizen. In case of corruption on the part of any policeman at pickets, strict action would be taken against him, he said.
