Conference on 'Corporate Governance' to be held on November 10

The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) is organising a conference on 'Corporate Governance/Strategy and Competitiveness' here on November 10. First of its kind, the conference is to be held in collaboration with Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG), the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and Marketing Association of Pakistan (MAP).
The conference is aimed at providing multiple opportunities and influence community of fellow senior market leaders. It would be featuring dynamic and insightful panels focused on overcoming obstacles, building growth, and promoting best practices and policies. In addition, it will be providing a multitude of networking opportunities, the best speakers in the business, and opportunity to be a part of network of decision makers, corporate leaders and opinion makers.
Dr John D Sullivan, Executive Director of Centre for International Private Enterprise, Washington, would highlight the session on corporate governance. The panellists for this session would be: Faud A Hashmi, President of Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, Khawar Saeed Ansari, Head of IFC's Pakistan Corporate Governance Program, Moin M Fudda, Country Director of CIPE, Zaffar Khan, a former president and CEO of Engro Chemicals, Board member of UBL, Shell, and State Bank of Pakistan, Zubyr Soomro, Chairman of Karachi Stock Exchange.
Moderator of this session would be Humanyun Zafar Chaudhry, Professor of Corporate Governance, IoBM.
The session on 'Strategy and Competitiveness' would be addressed by Zubyr Soomro, and the panellists would be Jalees Ahmed Siddiqui, CEO of IGI Insurance Ltd, Kamal A Chinoy, CEO of Pakistan Cables, Muhammad Ali Tabba, CEO of Lucky Cement, Naveed A Khawaja, COO of EBM Pvt Ltd, Sarfaraz A Rehman, CEO of Engro Foods Ltd, and Javaid Ahmed, senior Fellow in Strategic Management at IoBM.
In the corporate governance session, discussion would be focused around: effective board composition/independent directors, board committees/governance of human assets, strategic governance and managerial oversight, disclosure - transparency and shareholders rights. In the strategy and competitiveness session discussion would focus on: managing industry dynamics for competitive advantage, innovating value chain processes for competitive advantage, generating and making strategic choices, aligning structure, resources and culture with strategy.
These specialised sessions are expected to go a long way towards brainstorming for corporate governance and strategy for the corporate sector.
