District administration and Punjab government will provided 100,000 mosquito nets in flood-hit areas of district Muzaffargarh to save people from malaria and dengue fever, said District Co-ordination Officer, Muzaffargarh, Tahir Khurshed here on Thursday.
He paid a surprise visit to THQ Hospital Kot Addu to see whether proper treatment was being provided to the flood-hit people who were suffering from Malaria, Cholera and other diseases. Khurshed said that a special ward was set up for the treatment of malaria and dengue virus in DHQ Hospital Muzaffargarh and also constituted a special squad of specialist doctors to take care of the patients.
The DCO said that rapid diagnostic test kits were provided to doctors to detect the cases of different diseases and tests of dengue virus suspects were being despatched to National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad. He said that only one dengue case had been reported so far in Kot Addu. He said the health department had ensured fumigation in Kot Addu to eliminate mosquitoes.
He also urged the citizens to follow instructions advertised by the health department. Meanwhile, EDO Health, Dr Saeed Amir said that the health department has launched the awareness campaign against dengue virus and hoped that it would be controlled within a few days. He told that every possible measure was being taken to save the people from the dengue virus, EDO health said by the grace of Allah only one person was affected by dengue virus who was kept alone to save others.
