Tax Year 2010: FBR not to extend date for filing returns

30 Oct, 2010

The Federal Board of Revenue has no intention to extend date for filing of income tax returns for the Tax Year 2010. It is learnt here on Friday that the FBR would launch enforcement actions against the non-filers of returns and statements for Tax Year 2009 by excluding their names from the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) from November 1, 2010.
The imports of non-compliant taxpayers would be blocked and their registration would be suspended. Once the date for filing of returns would expire, the enforcement actions would be taken against the non-filers of returns and statements for Tax Year 2009. Till non-filers become compliant taxpayers, their names would not be included in the ATL.
According to sources, the bank would remain opened till 8pm for accepting income tax challans on October 30. However, the Board would not extend date for filing of income tax returns for Tax year 2010. The banks remained opened till 6pm on Friday.
