Taiwan stocks fall

03 Nov, 2010

Taiwan stocks fell 0.42 percent on Tuesday after reaching a more than two-year closing high the previous session, as investors shunned tech shares, including Mediatek after it gave a disappointing sales forecast. Investors were concerned about weaker sales of personal computers and flat-screen TVs that require chips and displays, and many local tech firms could see fourth-quarter sales during the year-end shopping season either flat or declining.
The main TAIEX share index closed down 34.99 points at 8,344.76, also due partly to a cautious mood before the US Federal Reserve's announcement on Wednesday.
