Prices tend lower on grain market

Falling trend was seen on the wholesales grain and seed market on Tuesday as many buyers were on the sidelines on expectations of further slide in the rates, dealers said. On the cereals side moong Punjab was lower by Rs 1000 to Rs 8,500 due to steady arrivals. Gur low type gained Rs 100 to Rs 6300 while the better type was unchanged at Rs 7000, other items stayed put in process of trading, they said.
On the seed sector cottonseed oilcake with bag low type did not show any change at Rs 1250 while the good quality rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1280 due to good demand. Castorseed Lasbela, however, was down by Rs 100 to Rs 2300-2400 and Castorseeds Sindh fell by Rs 100 to Rs 1900, other items maintained the last levels, they said.
On the grams side Guwar Sindh low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 3900 while the best type held the overnight level at Rs 4000. Guwar Punjab followed the same pattern, losing Rs 50 to Rs 3800-3900. Bajra low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 2200 and best type lost sharply by Rs 700 to Rs 2400, they said.
