05 Nov, 2010

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Environment Senator Muhammad Hamayyun Mandokhail has said that Pakistan could get status of Asian tiger if our embassies work to promote the country's trade. According to a statement issued on Thursday, he urged the staff of Pakistani embassies abroad to work to attract more investment to Pakistan so that our national economy could be supported by trade instead of foreign aid.
He criticised performance of some embassies abroad as saying they were not playing their due role practically to attract foreign investment to Pakistan. He added that he would move an adjournment motion in this regard. He mentioned that as a country, Pakistan was rich in natural resources including fish, leather, rice and mines and minerals, which needed more attention for their export. He said some countries also welcomed Pakistan manpower adding but our missions abroad were not making contact to relevant organisations there in this connection.
