With high hopes for the upcoming local bodies' elections and an end to its lacklustre posture in political arena, Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) on Thursday decided to keep all options open making it clear that it had not decided yet to join any side - ruling PPP or PML-N in the opposition.
In recent past, ruling PPP and PML-N had approached PML-Q. The process started with Law Minister Babar Awan who visited Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. Afterwards Senator Ishaq Dar of PML-N held a meeting with PML leadership and agreed on a joint nomination for a representative in Judicial Commission.
The two political parties will nominate one person each for Judicial Commission, however, the names would be finalised after a consensus is reached on nomination. In this respect, a working relationship is being developed between the two parties. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, president PML took parliamentary leaders into confidence on the recent contacts with PPP and PML-N and made it clear that the decision to join any political force has not yet been taken. It would be taken in the larger interest of crises-stricken country, he added.
Mushahid Hussain Syed, Secretary General of PML addressing the party meeting said 'rather we have decide to keep all options open and decision in this regard would be taken in larger interest of the people of Pakistan and democratic process. PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain urged all political forces sit together saying that his party, PML-Q, believes in dialogue, as this is the only way to bridge political differences and to resolve all the outstanding issues.
Briefing the party leaders on his meeting with PML-F leader and spiritual leader of Hurs of Sindh Pir Sahib Pagaro, Shujaat said he had communicated to Pir Sahib that his party had no reservations if Nawaz Sharif-led PML-N joins the PML alliance. Shujaat also said he was in favour of inclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf in the PML alliance and had urged Pir Pagaro to invite Imran Khan to the alliance.
Mushahid Hussain Syed said the ongoing political developments suggest that the significance of the PML has increased manifold and now every political outfit wants to take us on their side. The PML is the only party which is active in the field and all political bigwigs are visiting us to win our support. We are holding dialogue with political parties, which is pure democratic practice, he said. PML Punjab President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said political dialogue was a positive omen and the PML supports this initiative. He said no decision would be taken without consulting the party.
