No chance of mid-term election, says Fazal

07 Nov, 2010

Chief of his own faction of Jamiat-i-Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman on Saturday said that there was no chance whatsoever of midterm election in the country and the present assemblies would complete their tenure. Talking to PTV, the Maulana said that idea of midterm election was the wishful thinking on part of certain elements otherwise there was not a bleak chance of this happening so he would not comment on this topic anymore.
About the co-operation of his party with the government despite having difference Fazal said, "it is better to do opposition while remaining in the government rather than extending co-operation by remaining in the opposition". His utter reference was to the leadership of PML-N and PML-Q who in his opinion hold the similar position with the government on important national policies and were making hue and cry over petty issues to mislead the masses. Maulana said that Pakistan was presently facing threat to its internal security and in such conditions the country may not be able to keep on co-operating with the international partner on anti-terror war.
