Progress of uplift schemes of C&W department reviewed

Provincial Secretary for Communication and Work department Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retd) said that development projects being executed under the technical supervision of provincial buildings and highways departments should complete on time and administrative and financial constraints causing slow pace of development projects should be removed with the consultations of the concerned provincial departments, divisional and district administration.
Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of development schemes of C&W department, he said that comprehensive mechanism has been devolved for the transparent utilisation of development funds and inspection teams have been constituted to monitor the pace and quality of under developed projects of C&W department.
Azam Suleman khan further directed the concerned officers to ensure close liaison with the stakeholders and relevant department for speedy completion of under developed projects. He also issued the directions to the officers of his departments for regular inspection of the schemes being executed in their administrative areas.
Secretary C&W also cleared that embezzlement of development funds would not be tolerated and the persons involved in such corruption would be dealt according to the administrative rules. It was disclosed in the meeting that an amount of Rs 323.29 million allocated for 96 schemes to the provincial building department of the division while an estimated cost for Rs 7984 million fixed for 28 development schemes of the roads in Faisalabad Division.
Commissioner told the meeting that co-ordinated efforts between the departments have been ensured for the timely completion of development schemes. Later, Secretary C&W inspected the different projects in which the development works in progress in Faisalabad division. Earlier, Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain briefed in details to the Secretary C&W about the development projects being taken up by provincial buildings and highways circles under annual development programme 2010-11. DCO Naseem Sadiq, Director Development Dr Tariq Sardar, heads of divisional and district departments of highways and buildings departments and TMOs were also present in the meeting.
