Lahore Gymkhana won 15th Allama Iqbal Open Golf Tournament with total score of 442 while Gujranwala team remained runners-up here on Sunday. A total of 225 golfers participated in this four days golf tournament played at Garrison Golf Club Sialkot. Professionals and amateurs from across the country including Top Ten took part in garrison golf course Sialkot.
This tournament is a regular event of Garrison Golf Club Sialkot and is dedicated to great poet and philosopher Allama Iqbal. In amateur match a total of 94 golfers from all over the country participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Amateurs were categorised in two categories first having Handicap 0-12 in which 63 players took part while 31 players participated in subsidiary having Handicap 13-18. As many as 63 professionals played their matches in Professional category including who were invited for 54 holes match worth cash award of Rs 500,000.
Top three winners of professional category were awarded cash prize. Muhammad Munir of Islamabad Golf Club won first prize, Muhammad Tariq of Islamabad Golf club won second and Shahid Javed Khan of Royal Palm Club won third prize. As many as ten club teams contested the tournament with excellent sports spirit.
