Steps being taken to protect women rights: Firdous

Federal Population Welfare Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday handed over the keys of two buses to the Principal of Government Post Graduate College for Women Sialkot in a memorable function held in connection with birth anniversary of Iqbal. Speaking on the occasion she said that the step has been taken to mitigate the transportation problems of the students belonging to far-off rural areas.
The PPP led government had focused special attention on protection of women rights and elimination of poverty and concerted steps had already been taken in this context she said. Dr Firdous Awan further said under the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto drastic steps were being taken for the social welfare of the women folk in the country. The government was striving hard to accomplish the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto aimed at bringing women into mainstream because dream of national development could not be materialised without the involvement of women in the development process of the country the Federal Minister said.
