Growers' interests to be safeguarded: Sardar Khosa

Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that the grower's problems will be solved on priority basis so that maximum targets of wheat as well as other agri-products could be achieved as the agriculture is the backbone of our national economy.
He said that provincial government would provide every possible facility to the farmers and will safeguard the interests of growers. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Committee on wheat release policy held here Monday. Minister for Agriculture Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Minister Food Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretary Agriculture, high ranking officials of Finance, Food and Agriculture attended the meeting, besides others. The committee would prepare recommendations regarding wheat release 2010-11 and present to Chief Minister Punjab for approval. The Committee also reviewed the quantum of wheat release and loan adjustments with the federal government.
Meanwhile, presiding over the meeting of cabinet committee on Zakat and Ushr, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed the concerned officials to speed up finalisation of the names of office holders of District Zakat and Ushr committees for final approval.He said that after 18thamendment as the concurrent has been omitted and majority of the subject matters stand devolved on the provinces, therefore, he directed that funds and assets to be handed over to the provinces should be utilised for the welfare of the people and the department should adopt a clear cut policy and made amendment in rules of business wherever required. The meeting was attended by Minister Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran, MPA Chaudhry Nadeem Abbas Rabera, Secretary Zakat and Ushr besides high ranking officials.
