Sugar price hike challenged in LHC

A petition is moved before the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging increase in the sugar price. Petitioner, a local citizen Ahmad Imran Ghazi, moved against federal and Punjab governments, ministry of food, sugar mills association and other 11 respondents.
Petitioner's counsel Azhar Siddique submitted that a fake shortage of sugar was created by a certain class of profiteers and the government was miserably failed to curb this mafia. He said that the directions should be issued to the government to take all sugar mills in its custody and supply sugar at reasonable price. He, therefore, prayed to the court to set up monitoring authority to keep the prices of daily usage commodities under check.
