Price hike, power tariff raise widely condemned

12 Nov, 2010

People belonging to different walks of life on Thursday strongly criticised the poor polices of the government, because of which the economic conditions of the country are deteriorating with every passing day. Expressing their views during a survey conducted by Business Recorder in rural and urban areas, people said the government is deliberately ignoring basic problems of general public and salaried class of the country due unknown reason.
They termed continuous bombardment in the shape of taxes and increase in electricity tariff attempts to create fuss and chaos among the masses to camouflage negligence and ineffective polices. They alleged that government is 'exploding price hike bomb' every weekend just to divert attention of people and hoodwink and betray the poor.
They pointed out that rice is being sold at rupees. 110 per kilogram in a rice-growing country, while mutton is being sold at Rs 450 to Rs 500 per kg, beef Rs 250 to Rs 300, onion Rs 75, potato Rs 55 to 60, sugar 120 per kg. Also, other articles of daily use are being sold at costs beyond the purchasing power of common man, but no body is daring to check it and it seems that there is no sign of existence of administration in Sialkot district.
