Convenor of the anti-graft caucus and member of the National Assembly Nawabzada Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has rejected the levy of Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) and flood tax, saying rulers themselves are inciting people on revolution. Talking to different delegations in his residence in Mardan on Thursday, he said that the levy of the new taxes would further overburden the poverty-stricken people.
He urged the rulers to first abolish their own luxuries and provide relief to the people before going for imposition of taxes on them. He said that the selling of the sugar at Rs 130 per kilogram is sheer injustice with both country and nation. He said that the rulers are testing the very patience of the people, which is touching its peak.
The former federal minister said that the policies of the government turned the lives of the people miserable and they are moving from pillar to posts in their own country. He said that people elect members of the legislatures for the resolution of their problems, but they are multiplying their grievances. Nawabzada Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti said that the deteriorating law and order situation and growing unemployment had made the lives of the people miserable in the province. He said that corruption and lawlessness are touching new height in the province and no one is coming forward to heal the miserable conditions of the poor.
