Dozens of militants armed with assault rifles attacked a security forces patrol near Afghan border in Orakzai agency sparking a gun battle that left six insurgents dead, security sources said. One soldier embraced martyrdom in the gunfight, the security official said.
The battle occurred in Guavaak area in Lower Orakzai tribal region near the Afghan border. The militants opened indiscriminate firing at the forces patrol which was retaliated by the security personnel. Guavaak borders the Orakzai tribal region, where Taliban insurgents and al Qaida militants often ambushed the security forces.
