Islamabad Police and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration in a joint operation arrested six shopkeepers for selling sugar at Rs 125 per kilogram. The operation was led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Islamabad Bani Ameen, which was carried out in Aabpara, Melody, Karachi Company and Super Market, said a spokesman of Islamabad on Thursday evening.
DIG Bani Ameen reiterated the resolve to take stern action against the hoarders and profiteers who are fleecing people by selling sugar at Rs 125 per kilogram. He said that police and district operation is committed to take the hoarders and profiteers to task and use efforts to force the shopkeepers to avoid hoarding.
He said that the operation will remain continue against the hoarders in Islamabad and in rural areas of the capital city. During the raids police and district administration arrested six shopkeepers for selling sugar at Rs 125 per kilogram and cases were registered against them under Price Control Act.
