Sale of 70,000 acres of land to Dubai Shaikhs: PM House pressurising Balochistan chief minister: Bhotani

13 Nov, 2010

Prime Minister House is exerting immense pressure on Chief Minister Balochistan for selling 70 thousand acres of land of Balochistan to Arab Shaikhs which is a sheer excess with the province, alleged Speaker Balochistan Assembly Muhammad Aslam Bhotani while addressing a press conference here on Friday.
"Balochistan''s soil is our mother and we have rights over its resources and coast. We would not allow sale of this land to any foreigner," he vowed.
He said provincial Chief Minsiter is under great pressure form Prime Minister House for the sale of 70 thousand acres of land along Coastal Highway to Shaikhs of Dubai.
He said if this land was sold to Shaikhs it would be great injustice with people of Balochistan particularly electorates of his constituency. He made it clear that it is the same land, which was taken over by a federal institution and taken back due to the efforts of Chief Minsiter Nawab Raisani and provincial assembly. He said there is great pressure on Nawab Raisani for selling this land to Shaikhs of Dubai from PM House. He said a summary in this regard has been prepared. He said when he came to know about it during his visit to India, he spoke to Chief Minsiter and Chief Secretary. He said it is not known if the pressure is being exerted on the directives of Prime Minister or the officer of PM House.
He said people of the area have sent an application to Revenue Department in this connection. He said he was representative from the area and he would do his best to stop the sale of the land to Shaikhs. "Balochistan is not the land for sale. I have reservations and conveyed the same to Chief Minsiter," he added. He said he was thankful to him that he had not yet signed the summary.
