KESC denies power disconnection of CID Centre

14 Nov, 2010

Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) has clarified the false impression created in a section of press that power supply to CID Centre was disconnected before bomb blast. In fact the Company made all out efforts immediately after the blast to illuminate the area for restoration work.
Power supply to CCPO Office was discontinued in the early hours of Thursday morning and it was restored an hour before the bomb blast in the evening of the same day after the payment of outstanding dues of Rs 2.9 million from the CCPO Office. Total dues towards Police Department exceed Rs 600 million.
On Thursday, immediately after the blast, KESC teams and vehicles reached the site near PIDC to save the stray power cables and equipment from proving harmful. Broken wires were removed so these don't hurt anyone from the rescue teams.
KESC also arranged mobile generator and emergency searchlights to help rescue operation at the venue. All surrounding feeders were exempted from load shedding to keep the lights on to facilitate help and investigative activities. During all this testing time, the KESC management was in touch with Police, Rangers and Home Department to respond to any specific need.-PR
