Smuggling of 53 falcons: Punjab chief minister forms probe body

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has formed a high level inquiry committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Sami Saeed to look into the delay and adopting unnecessary formalities by the Wildlife Department in taking action against the accused involved in the attempt to smuggle 53 falcons to Bahrain from Islamabad Airport.
Member Consolidation, Board of Revenue Sohail Aamir and Principal Police Training School Chuung, Major Mubashar Ullah (Retd) will be the members of the committee. The inquiry committee will also probe why proper and timely measures were not taken for initiating legal action against the accused. It may be mentioned that Punjab Wildlife Department Rawalpindi had conducted a raid on Islamabad International Airport on October 15, 2010 and recovered 53 falcons which were being smuggled to Bahrain.
