Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday paid a surprise visit to Northern Lahore and reviewed availability and prices of sugar at various shops. Member National Assembly, Bilal Yaseen and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, Ahad Cheema accompanied the CM during the two-hour long visit.
The CM inquired from consumers about the availability of sugar at the fixed rate, upon which he was informed that due to the measures taken, sugar is available at the prices fixed by the government. In response to the complaints of non-availability of sugar at some shops, he said hoarders will not be allowed to exploit masses regarding sugar sale. Shahbaz expressed indignation over the non-functioning of streetlights in some areas and ordered suspension of TMO Data Gung Bakhsh Town, Malik Tariq for poor arrangements of street lighting and dereliction of duty. He ordered that streetlights should be installed in the areas within a week and it should be checked on daily basis. He directed that the areas be properly lit on his next visit.
He observed that sanitary conditions have improved in the areas however, there is a need for further improvement. He also reviewed availability and prices of sugar at various shops of Bilal Gung, Mohni Road and adjoining areas and expressed satisfaction over the sanitary arrangements in Ara Hassan Shah, Chowk Sirdar Chappal, Bilal Gung Market and Bairi Chowk. The CM also met people individually and inquired about their problems.
