CM's Advisor on Information Sharmila Faruqui on Saturday urged the Chief Justice of Supreme Court to take suo motu action against former NAB chief, former judge and former chief minister Punjab and others for registering false cases against President Asif Ali Zardari and other PPP leaders during their tenure.
She was addressing a press conference along with the CM's Advisor Syed Waqar Mehdi and president PPP Karachi Najmi Alam here on Saturday. Quoting the conversation between former NAB chief Saifur Rehman, former judge Lahore High Court Malik Abdul Qayoom and former chief ministers in an audio tapes which were aired by a private TV channel on Friday evening, she said that the laboratory tests have confirmed that the voices in these tapes are genuine and authentic and are of these persons.
She was of the view that surfacing of these tapes have vindicated the claim of PPP that these cases were false, politically motivated, engineered to involve PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari on faulty grounds and registered with mala fide intentions and therefore they are non-existent. The Supreme Court should now take suo motu action against the responsible, whose voices are recorded in these tapes and asked them why they registered false cases against PPP leader, she noted.
Sharmila said that judiciary is free and independent in the country and the PPP leadership had played a significant role in this regard. "Today, PPP leaders and activists now seek to the free judiciary for a justice for their leader who was imprisoned for more than 11 years for no fault", she added.
