Interior Minister Rehman Malik chaired a high level meeting here on Sunday to review the matters of illegal human trafficking, smuggling and anti-corruption drive. Director General, FIA, Director FIA Balochistan and other officials of the agency were present in the meeting.
Rehman Malik took serious notice of deportation of 106 Pakistanis at Taftan check post. Out of these deportees 54 were from Punjab while 52 from Balochistan. He ordered DG FIA to ensure arrest of all fake agents, who facilitated this illegal human trafficking.
He directed Director FIA Balochistan to visit the border post himself and keep a vigil on the smuggling of sugar, raw sugar and other commodities to Afghanistan. He also directed to check the illegal entry of Afghanis from border areas and keep a close liaison with Chaman border Police to re-install biometrics system as agreed between Pak-Afghan governments.
The minister also ordered suspension of FIA's shift Incharge at Islamabad Airport on the complaint of two passengers namely Zeeshan and Khalid about alleged demand of Rs 20,000. Interior Minister directed DG FIA to initiate criminal enquiry against the FIA officials and registration of case if they found guilty.
Rehman Malik categorically directed to have zero tolerance level regarding illegal immigration or illegal human trafficking and misbehaviour by immigration staff at all airports. He also directed to display his own mobile number 0321-2033383 and mobile number of DG FIA 03009274528 and Email address mirmazharjabbar@gmail.com at all entry and exit points of all airports.
Interior Minister directed DG FIA to constitute a Task Force, which will make spot-checking and interview the passengers to check implementation of directives.
The Minister discussed the ongoing Anti-Corruption Drive in the country. The progress of road map regarding Anti-Corruption strategy was reviewed. DG FIA informed that FIA has received good numbers of complaints and departmental enquiries, which will be reviewed and investigated by FIA. DG FIA will brief Interior Minister regarding these enquiries on 27th November 2010 in Islamabad.
Interior Minister directed DG FIA to workout a proposal for reward money to FIA officials in case of recovery of lost or corrupted money on the lines of Departments of Customs and Income Tax.
