23 Nov, 2010

Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Monday kicked off an operation against illegal occupation in Parliament Lodges. The operation has been launched on the special instructions of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to evacuate all flats and guestrooms from the illegal occupants, sources in CDA said.
The operation will be completed in 24 hours and all illegal occupants would be removed, CDA sources said, adding that besides enforcement staff of the CDA, officials of ICT Administration and contingents of Islamabad Police are also taking part in the operation.
They said National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza and Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi raised the issue of illegal occupation of Parliament Lodges with the Prime Minister and requested an across the board action against the illegal occupants.
The Prime Minister directed the CDA to ensure the evacuation of all illegal occupants and make the Parliamentary Lodges safe for Parliamentarians, the sources said, adding that the Premier also directed to take back the additional flats from the ministers. A CDA spokesman said some suspected people had illegally occupied the waiting rooms and open spaces in front of 240 flats in the Lodges.
